The Olympic Games or Olympics is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896. The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent atleast one color of the participating country’s national flag.
 
In 1952, the Olympic Games were finally held in Norway, the birthplace of modern skiing. The Olympic flame was lit in the hearth of the home of Sondre Nordheim, the first famous skier and relayed by 94 skiers to Oslo. Speed skater Hjalmar Andersen starred for the home team, winning three gold medals. His winning margins in the 5,000m and the 10,000m were the largest in Olympic history.
 
The Oslo 1952 Official opening of the games was done by Princess Ragnhild, Lighting of the Olympic Flame by Eigil Nansen, grandson of the famous explorer Fridtjof Nansen. Olympic Oath by Torbjorn Falkanger, Official Oath by the first officials' oath was sworn at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.

In Alpine skiing, the combined event was dropped and replaced by the giant slalom. Andrea Mead Lawrence won both the giant slalom and the slalom even though she was only nineteen years old. Canada won the ice hockey tournament for the fifth time, bringing their collective Olympic record to 37 wins, 1 loss and 3 ties. In those 41 games they scored 403 goals while conceding only 34. In Oslo 1952 year Norway achieved good position with hard working. They got 7, 3, 6 medals respectively Gold, Silver, Bronze in that specific year.
