She was a left-handed player and turned into a professional tennis player in 1993. In 2000 she reached the Wimbledon quarter finals. She was coached by Fernando Garcia Lleo.
 
In 2003 she was a quarterfinalist at Canberra, and won the first Grand Slam match in a year at Austalian Open. In 2002 she reached the third round at the Australian Open and reached doubles semifinals. She won the doubles rubber in Spain’s advancing to the semifinals. 2001 was her fifth consecutive Top 50 finish. In 2001 at Eastbourne, she reached her second final of the year. She has reached the fourth round of three Grand Slam tournaments on three different surfaces. She won both her singles matches and a doubles match to lead Spain to a 3 to 2 win over Germany in the first round of 1998 Fed Cup. Magui Serna was a member of the 2001 Women’s Tennis Association, WTA Tour Players’ Committee as well.
 
Magui Serna with all her dedication and devotion in her play has achieved many goals in her overall tennis-playing career. She had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by giving some extra hard work and efforts. She was a legendry tennis player known for an outstanding play during her time.
