Helena Sukova
Tennis is an outdoor sport which can be played between two players or four players. Players utilize a stringed racquet to hit a rubber ball, hollow inside covered with felt over a net into the opponent's court. In some places tennis is referred to as lawn tennis. This game started in England and was the most popular amongst the upper class of society. Presently tennis is an Olympic sport, as well as, it is played in various tournaments including the four Grand Slams in many countries, by people of all ages and classes. Helena Sukova is a former professional tennis player from the Czech Republic. She was born on February 23rd, 1965 in Prague, Czechoslovakia. Her height is 6 foot 2 inches with weight 150 pounds. She was a right-handed player and turned into a professional in 1983 and retired in 1998. She reached 1984 and 1989 Australian Open finals; 1986 and 1993 U.S. Open finals, 1986 Wimbledon semi finals and 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988 and 1993 Wimbledon quarter finals as well. She was coached by Jaromir Jirik. During her career she won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles, and was a four-time Grand Slam singles runner-up. In 1984 at the Australian Open she stopped Navratilova's 74-match historic win-streak. In 1987 at Eastbourne, she became stopped Navratilova's grass win-streak of 69 matches. In 1993 at the US Open, she became the lowest seed to reach singles final and won the doubles and mixed doubles titles becoming the seventh woman in Open Era to reach all three finals at a Grand Slam event. In 1996 she won the Wimbledon doubles and mixed doubles and in 1993 she won the US Open Grand Slam as well. In 1991 she won the French Open at Roland Garros and received the Olympic Silver Medal in doubles at the 1988 Olympics. She won 10 singles titles and 73 doubles titles. She was the recipient of 1989 and 1990 Women’s Tennis Association, WTA Tour Doubles Team of the Year with Jana Novotna and 1985 WTA Tour MVP, Most Improved Player. Helena Sukova with all her dedication and devotion in her play has achieved many goals in her overall tennis-playing career. She had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by giving some extra hard work and efforts. She was a legendry tennis player known for an outstanding play during her time.
