Tennis is an outdoor sport which can be played between two players or four players. Players utilize a stringed racquet to hit a rubber ball, hollow inside covered with felt over a net into the opponent's court. In some places tennis is referred to as lawn tennis. This game started in England and was the most popular amongst the upper class of society. Presently tennis is an Olympic sport, as well as, it is played in various tournaments including the four Grand Slams in many countries, by people of all ages and classes.
 
Helen Wills Moody also known as Helen Roark was an American who dominated female tennis during the 1920s and 1930s. She was born on October 6th, 1905 in Centerville, California, U.S.  She reached 31 Grand Slam titles and was the Worlds No. 1 for 8 years.
 
She won 31 major titles in singles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles over her career, including seven U.S. singles championships from 1923 to 25, from 1927 to 29, and 1931, eight Wimbledon singles titles from 1927 to 30, from 1932 to 33, 1935, and 1938, and four French singles titles from 1928 to 30 and 1932. She also won two Olympic gold medals in Paris in 1924 in singles and doubles. She was also the U.S. girls' singles champion form 1921 to 22. She won her first women's national title at the age of 17 in 1923, making her the youngest champion at that time.
 
During the 17 year period from 1922 to 1938, she entered 24 Grand Slam singles events, winning 19 and finishing second 3 times. Starting with the 1924 US Championships, she won 16 of the 18 Grand Slam singles events she played. She was named Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year in 1935 and was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1959. In 1981, Wills was inducted into the San Francisco Bay Area Athletic Hall of Fame as well.
 
Helen Wills with all her dedication and devotion in her play has achieved many goals in her overall tennis-playing career. She had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by giving some extra hard work and efforts. She was a legendry tennis player known for an outstanding play during her time.
