Rita Grande
Tennis is an outdoor sport which can be played between two players or four players. Players utilize a stringed racquet to hit a rubber ball, hollow inside covered with felt over a net into the opponent's court. In some places tennis is referred to as lawn tennis. This game started in England and was the most popular amongst the upper class of society. Presently tennis is an Olympic sport, as well as, it is played in various tournaments including the four Grand Slams in many countries, by people of all ages and classes. There are three different court surfaces it is played on namely, clay court, grass court and hard court. One such renowned players of the epoch in tennis is Rita Grande. She is one of the finest tennis players with an international repute and recognition as the all time great professional. Rita was born on March 23, 1975 in the Napoli suburb at Italy. She listed a height of 5 feet 9 inches with a weight of 145 pounds and acquired a right-handed playing style. She started playing tennis through the interest and enthusiasm in the sport when she watched the players battling for victories on the court at championship matches. She was also encouraged and coached by her brother, Vincenzo. Rita’s career highlights in the singles reveal magnificent performances including the WTA, Women’s Tennis Association Tour of 2003, 2001 tour at Hobart, Bratislava, 1993 and Vilamoura title match. She reached the finals of the 1999 tour at Hobart, semifinals at 2004 tour of Casablanca, 2002 title match at Bratislava, 2001 title match at Shanghai, 2000 tour match at Oklahoma City and many more. On the other hand, she also compiled victories in the in doubles including the 2002 title in Hobart with Garbin, 2001 title at Auckland with Fusai and many more. In the 2003 season, Rita became the ninth successive top 100 finishing women. She also scored two top 20 wins and became the member of Italian Fed Cup team in World Group. However, she suffered the right elbow injury that forced her withdrawal from Australian Open and Rabat. Though her career ended with this unfortunate happening, she was a dominating player both in the singles and doubles games which earned her the top rankings in overall career.
