Tennis is an outdoor sport which can be played between two players or four players. Players utilize a stringed racquet to hit a rubber ball, hollow inside covered with felt over a net into the opponent's court. In some places tennis is referred to as lawn tennis. This game started in England and was the most popular amongst the upper class of society. There are three different court surfaces it is played on namely, clay court, grass court and hardcourt. Andrei Pavel was born on January 27, 1974, in Constanta, Romania. Pavel is a right-handed player, with a height of six feet and weighing 84 pounds. He is a well known tennis player.

In 1996, he reached first ATP, the Association of Tennis Professionals semifinal in Bucharest and played in Olympics. In 1997 he advanced to semifinal in Chennai. In 1998 Captured first ATP title in Tokyo and first Romanian to win a title since Ilie Nastase in 1978. He won first ATP doubles title in Bucharest. In 1999, he reached two ATP finals Munich and s-Hertogenbosch. In 2000, he won title in St. Poelten.
 
In 2001, he won AMS Montreal. He held 46 consecutive service games and saved 16 of 16 break points there until losing serve in first game of second set vs. Rafter. In 2002, hew won a career-high 44 matches and advanced to his first Grand Slam QF, quarterfinals at Roland Garros and during rain-delayed QF he became a father for second time. Pavel also went 6-0 in Davis Cup play during year.
 
In 2003, he finished in top 100 for sixth consecutive season despite missing six months of season right wrist and back injuries from April through September. He had a 0-7 match record on year before going 7-5 in last five tournaments. In 2004 the veteran Romanian finished in Top 20 in INDESIT ATP Entry Rankings for first time in his career. His first three months by compiling a 12-7 record with five of his losses coming to Top 3 opponents.
