He played all four Grand Slams for the first time, and after reaching 2 round at Australian Open, she broke into Top 100 on January 29, won first tour singles title at Palermo, first Tour semifinals at Antwerp and Madrid, she won first four Tour doubles titles at Acapulco, Porto, Bol and Basel.
 
In 2002, she started with quarter final finish at Auckland followed by second career singles final in Hobart at Australian Open, forced to retire at 4-2, 30-0 in first set of 4 round verses Seles due to torn anterior cruciate ligament in right knee and underwent surgery shortly afterwards. She returned to ITF Circuit events in September, reaching one quarterfinals.
 
In 2004, she was in top 50 at number 48 for first time. In 2005, her best season to date, highlighted by two singles titles and impressive doubles results, captured third and fourth career tour singles titles at Tier III Strasbourg and at Tier IV Palermo.
