Slava Dosedel
Slava Dosedel was born on the 14th of August 1970 in Prerov, Czech Republic. He is a former tennis player who holds three titles. His highest ATP Tour ranking was 26. His Grand Slam highlights include reaching the 4th round of the Australian Open and the French Open, 2nd round of Wimbledon, and the quarterfinals of the US Open. Dosedel appears in a 1999 Czech film titled, Life Water. It tells of the life of Dr.Vincent Priessnitz who is credited with the founded of hydrotherapy, a cure for high fever in 1800s.
He began playing tennis at the age of six. He was the Czech national Boys under 18s champion and indoors champion. He admired Ivan Lendl while growing up. A vegetarian since 1992, he has a 3 win and 8 loss career Davis Cup singles record in six ties. The Czech No. 2 finished in Top 75 for eighth straight year despite not reaching a final for first time since 1994. He also had his first losing match record in a season since 1991.He began the year with a quarterfinal appearance in Sydney and a 4th round showing at the Australian Open, a 3rd round at The Master Series, Monte Carlo, a 2nd round at Roland Garros and a. 2nd round at the Wimbledon.
His other career highlights include in 1989, he was a doubles finalist at the Geneva Challenger, in 1990, he won the Bangkok Challenger and was a finalist at Kuala Lumpur and Casablanca Challengers. He won the doubles title at Verona Challenger. In 1991, he reached the 2nd round at the Australian and French Opens. In 1992, he reached the quarterfinals of the ATP stop as a qualifier. In 1993, he reached his first Tour final. In 1994, he compiled a 35 win and 20 loss record on clay, reaching semifinals at The Masters Series in Rome. In 1995, he won his first Tour title in Santiago. In 1996 he compiled a 20 win and 11 loss marks on clay. He won his second career ATP title in Munich and won his first Association of Tennis Professionals doubles titles at St. Poelten In 1997, he won an ATP title for third year in a row in Amsterdam.
