Sania Mirza
Tennis is an outdoor sport which can be played between two players or four players. Players utilize a stringed racquet to hit a rubber ball, hollow inside covered with felt over a net into the opponent's court. In some places tennis is referred to as lawn tennis. This game started in England and was the most popular amongst the upper class of society. Presently tennis is an Olympic sport, as well as, it is played in various tournaments including the four Grand Slams in many countries, by people of all ages and classes.
Sania Mirza is a well known tennis player from India. She was born on November 15, 1986 in Mumbai and now lives in Hyderabad. She was coached by her father, Imran Mirza and she began playing tennis at the age of six, turning professional in 2003. She is the highest ranked female tennis player from India. Sania was ranked 31 in the singles and 109 in doubles by mid October 2005. She became the first Indian woman to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament at the 2005 US Open, defeating Mashona Washington, Maria Elena Camerin and Marion Bartoli.
Sania’s career singles titles and her winning matches were at Hyderabad in 2005, ITF, International Tennis Federation Boca Raton 2 in USA. In 2004, her matches were the ITA, International Tennis Association in Campobasso, ITF in Wrexham, ITF in London, ITF in Lagos, Nigeria. In 2003 the matches were, ITF in Benin City, ITF in Benin City ITF in Jakarta, Indonesia. Her 2002 matches were ITF in Manila, Phillipines, ITF in Hyderabad, India. She was the finalist at the Tokyo Japan Open in 2005 and a quarterfinalist at the Cincinnati, Forest Hills in 2006.
In 2004, Sania was the Hyderabad finalist against L.Huber and in Amelia Island also against L.Huber, In Istanbul against Molik, Cincinnati against Domachowska. She was the semifinalist at the 2006 Stanford against Mattek, 2005 Cincinnati against Fedak, Kolkata against Ruano Pascual, and Tokyo Japan Open against Peer. She reached second round at Paris. Sania was declared as the worlds Number 16 in Pennetta in the fist round for her career.
Sania Mirza is a player known for her mental toughness owing to which many of her famous matches went the distance. Her superior approach and dedication to the game made her stand out from the crowd.
