Tennis is an outdoor sport which can be played between two players or four players. Players utilize a stringed racquet to hit a rubber ball, hollow inside covered with felt over a net into the opponent's court. In some places tennis is referred to as lawn tennis. This game started in England and was the most popular amongst the upper class of society. Presently tennis is an Olympic sport, as well as, it is played in various tournaments including the four Grand Slams in many countries, by people of all ages and classes. 
 
There are three different court surfaces it is played on namely, clay court, grass court and hardcourt. Depending on the surface, each one provides a different movement of speed and bounce for the ball, which in turn affects the level of play of individual players.
 
Oliver’s full name is Oliver Edward Michael Campbell. He was born on February 25, 1871 in Brooklyn, New York. For over a century Campbell had the honour of being the youngest male player to win the U.S. singles title. He did it as a 19 year old student in 1890. That record went to fellow American Pete Sampras, a younger 19, when he won the title in 1990. Oliver Grand Slam record in U.S. Championships is Singles champion in 1890, 1891, and 1892. Doubles champion in 1888, 1891, 1892 and doubles finalist in 1889, 1893.
 
In 1890, he won U.S. Championships beating Henry Slocum in 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 sets and in 1891 beating Clarence Hobart in set of 2-6, 7-5, 7-9, 6-1, 6-2. In 1892, he won final U.S. Championships beating Fred Hovey 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5. Oliver Campbell is a player known for his mental toughness and because of that, many of his most famous matches went the distance. He is still remembered as one of the legendry tennis players in his time.
