The Olympic Games, or Olympics, are an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprise of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896. The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent at least one color of the participating country’s national flag. Barcelona 1992 is also one of that Olympic. It is summer Olympic XXVIII game.
 
Barcelona 1992 Olympics included 169 Nations, 9,356 athletes with 2,704 women and 6,652 men athletes, 257 events, 34,548 volunteers and 13,082 media. Barcelona 1992 Olympics started on 25 July 1992 with official opening by His Majesty King Juan Carlos I with lighting of the Olympic flame by Antonio Rebollo who was a paralympic archer. Olympic oath was taken by Luis Doreste Blanco of sailing and the official oath was taken by Eugeni Asencio of water polo.
 
This Olympics event included 28 sports consist in aquatics, archery, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, boxing, canoe or kayak, cycling, equestrian, fencing, football, gymnastics, handball, hockey, judo, modern pentathlon, rowing, sailing, shooting, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting and wrestling.
 
Men's basketball was open to all professionals, and the US sent a so called Dream Team that included Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan and Larry Bird. Gymnast Vitaly Scherbo won six gold medals, including a record four in one day. Derartu Tulu of Ethiopia won the 10,000m run to become the first female black African Olympic champion. Her victory lap with silver medallist Elana Meyer, a white South African, symbolised hope for the future of the Olympic Movement. Fermin Cacho Ruiz was not one of the favourites in the 1,500m. However, the final was run at an unusually slow pace and Cacho took advantage of this and, with a delirious crowd screaming his name, won the race over the final sprint.
 
The closing ceremony was on 09 August 1992. The Unified Team, EUN took the leading position with 45 Gold, 38 Silver and 45 Bronze medals for this Olympics event. During this Olympic a huge amount of clean play and sheer determination amongst all the athletes were exhibited.
