Club de Fútbol Monterrey
Club de Fútbol Monterrey, also known as Monterrey, is a Mexican professional football club from Monterrey, Nuevo León, in the northeast of the country that plays in the Primera División (the first division of Mexican football). Monterrey is owned by FEMSA, Mexico’s largest beverage company. The nickname of this club is “Los Rayados”; it was founded in 1945. Tigres UANL or simply Tigres is the main rival of Club de Fútbol Monterrey; they play a derby called the Clásico Regiomontano. Miguel “El Piojo” Herrera is the coach of Monterrey.
This club plays its home games at Estadio Tecnológico, a stadium located in city of Monterrey, Mexico and property of the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. This stadium opened on July 17, 1950; it has a capacity of 38,500 people. Monterrey has won two national championships (1986 and 2003). Some of the most notable former players of this club are: Carlos Hermosillo, Antonio Mohamed, Luis Hernandez, Luis Miguel Salvador, Alex Fernandes, Guillermo Franco and Oribe Peralta. Some of the current players of Club de Fútbol Monterrey are: Christian Martinez, Luis Pérez, Gastón Fernández, Sebastián Abreu, Walter Erviti, Leandro Gracián, Felipe Baloy and Jesús Arellano.
