Kansas City Wizards
Kansas City Wizards is a football club based in Kansas City, Missouri that plays in the MLS (Major League Soccer). Kansas City Wizards was one of the ten founding clubs of Major League Soccer; back then, the club was named Kansas City Wis but changed the name due to a copyright dispute. The name “Wizards” is an allusion to The Wizard of Oz, as the main character is from Kansas. Brian Bliss is the coach of Kansas City Wizards. The official supporters’ group of this club is called “The Cauldron.”
This club plays its home games at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. This stadium is part of the city’s Truman Sports Complex (together with Kauffman Stadium). Kansas City Wizards won the MLS Cup and the MLS Supporters’ Shield in 2000 and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2004. Some of the most notable former players of this club are: Mark Chung, Chris Henderson, Mo Johnston, Chris Klein, Alexi Lalas, Tony Meola, Predrag Radosavljevic or simply Preki, and Peter Vermes. Some of the current players of this club are: Bo Oshoniyi, Shavar Thomas, Eddie Johnson, Sasha Victorine, Dave van den Bergh, Jimmy Conrad, Josh Wolff, Scott Sealy and Kerry Zavagnin.
