Liga Deportiva Alajuelense or simply Alajuela, is a Costa Rican football club that currently plays in the Primera División (First Division of Costa Rican football). This club is tied with bitter rivals Deportivo Saprissa in national championships with a total of 24. This club is known by their fans as “La Liga.” Liga Deportiva Alajuelense was the first Costa Rican team to win a CONCACAF Champions’ Cup and is the current champion of the Copa Interclubes UNCAF, which ended in the invitation to the Copa Sudamericana 2006.

This club plays its home games at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto, a multi-use stadium in Alajuela, Costa Rica. This stadium has a capacity of 17,895 people and was built in 1942. Liga Deportiva Alajuelense was founded on June 18, 1919 in Alajuela, Costa Rica. Some of the most notable former players of “La Liga” are: Alejandro Morera Soto, Carlos Alvarado, Juan Ulloa, Errol Daniels, Mauricio Montero, Froylan Ledezma, Pavel Karoch, Roy Lassiter, Luis Diego Arnáez, Juan Carlos Arguedas, Javier Delgado, Luis Marín, Josef Miso, Pablo Izaguirre and Steven Bryce. Some of the current players of this club are: Ricardo González, Wilmer Lopez, Rolando Fonseca, Harold Wallace, Carlos Hernández and Erick Scott.
