Cuauhtémoc Blanco
Cuauhtémoc Blanco Bravo is a Mexican football striker, who currently plays for Club América. He was born January 17, 1973 in Tepito, Mexico City. In 1990, Blanco made his debut in the Primera División de México at age 17 playing for Club América. He had the opportunity to play with Necaxa, Veracruz and Real Valladolid in Spain before returning to Club América. Blanco played for the Mexican National Team in two World Cups, France '98 and Korea-Japan 2002, scoring a total of two goals, and was also a member of the Mexican National Team that won the Confederations Cup in 1999. In that tournament he got leading score, and holds the record with Ronaldinho as the player that scored the most goals in a Confederations Cup, both with 9 goals, attracting much attention from both Spanish and German clubs.
Blanco won his first club championship as a player in May of 2005, leading Club América to its tenth league title and second in 16 years, when the "Aguilas" defeated the UAG Tecos by an aggregate score of 7-4. With 127 goals to his name, Blanco is considered one of Mexico's best attacking strikers and one of the league's most prolific scorers still in activity. He has amassed 89 caps and scored 29 goals for his country. Blanco is known for the creation of a singular football technique known popularly as the 'Blanco Bounce' or 'Bunny Hop' ('Cuauhtemiña' in Mexico), whereupon he would tuck the ball between his feet and leap over tackling or on-rushing opponents with the ball still clutched in the same position. The first time he was seen using this move was in the 1998 World Cup against South Korea.
