PUMA AG Rudolf Dassler Sport is a large German-based multinational company that produces athletic shoes and sportswear. It was founded in 1924 as Gebruder Dassler Schufabrik in Herzogenaurach, Germany by Rudolph Dassler, the brother of Adolf Dassler who founded competitor Adidas.

During Berlin Olympic Games 1936, the American hero Jesse Owens wins four medals wearing Dassler shoes, likewise almost every member of the German Football team. It was until 1948 that PUMA Schufabrik Rudolf Dassler was founded, that same year was introduced the PUMA Atom, the first football shoes wore by the West German national football team in the first football match after the World War II.

Through the years PUMA has designed and produced athletic shoes with the best materials and the best technology with the mission of becoming the most desirable Sportslifestyle company. PUMA football line includes footwear, apparel, equipment, and replica shirts; such as its collections for running, motorsport, baseball, women, cricket, golf and sport fashion (96 Hours, Nuala, Mihara, Starck and Alexander McQueen).

PUMA has sponsored many of the most famous football players such as Pelé in the World Cup of 1962, Eusebio, Johan Cruyff, Bruno Conti, Diego Maradona, Lothar Matthaus, Robert Pires, and Gianluigi Buffon. During the 2006 FIFA World Cup PUMA sponsored the national teams of Czech Republic, Poland, Switzerland, Paraguay, Saudi Arabia, Iran, as well as the five African teams Ghana, Angola, Togo, Ivory Coast, Tunisia and the current World Champions, Italy. In 36 of the 64 games, at least one team playing was wearing clothing sponsored and made by PUMA.

It has also sponsored and created clothing for several recognized professional football clubs, such as Villareal, S.S Lazio, Tottenham Hotspur, Hamburg, Sporting Clube de Portugal, Boavista FC, Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv, and several more.
