Colorado Rapids is a football club based in Denver, Colorado that plays in the MLS (Major League Soccer). Colorado Rapids were one of the ten founding clubs of Major League Soccer. The name “Rapids” refers to the harsh rapids of the Colorado River. Throughout the years, the club has made it to two finals: the 1997 MLS Cup and the 1999 US Open Cup; however, it lost both times. In 2005, Colorado Rapids was a semifinalist of the MLS Cup.

From 1996 to 2001, the club played its home games at Mile High Stadium. In 2002, Colorado Rapids moved into INVESCO Field at Mile High, a stadium with a capacity of approximately 75,000 people. For the 2007, the club plans to move to a new soccer-specific stadium in the town of Commerce City.

Fernando Clavijo is the coach of this club. Some of the most notable former players of Colorado Rapids are: Marcelo Balboa, Shaun Bartlett, Paul Bravo, Marcus Hahnemann, Chris Henderson, Anders Limpar, John Spencer, Carlos Valderrama and Jorge Dely Valdes. Some of the current players of this club are: Joe Cannon, Kyle Beckerman, Jovan Kirovski, Clint Mathis, Alain Nkong, Terry Cooke, Chris Wingert, Aitor Karanka, Pablo Mastroeni, Sasha Gotsmanov and Nicolas Hernández.
