IF Elfsborg

Boras is a city in Vastergotland, western Sweden. The most successful sports team is the IF Elfsborg which was founded in 1904 as Boras Fotbollslag. The club has won four Swedish championship titles (1935- 1938- 1939- 1961) and two national cup titles. IF Elfsborg is at this time playing in the highest Swedish league, Allsvenskan, which holds the top 14 clubs. The winners of the Allsvenskan are considered the Swedish Champions who qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

The squad’s home is the Boras Arena, a ground built in 2005, with an artificial turf pitch and with a capacity for 14,500. The “Yellows” include in their history multiple records including the player with most appearances, the striker Sven Jonasson with a total of 410. Jonasson has also the record of most goals scored, a total of 252. In addition the squad has the best away victory, when in 1936 they bet IFK Eskilstuna 12-2. The highest attendance is also registered in the Ryavallen (formerly stadium of the team) a total of 20, 235 fans were present in the match against the IFK Goteborg in 1977.
