Brujas F.C.

Brujas F.C. is a Costa Rican football club based in Escazú, Costa Rica. It currently plays in the Primera División (First Division of Costa Rican football). The name Brujas literally translates to “Witches.” A popular legend tags Escazú as “La Ciudad de las Brujas” (the City of the Witches); hence the name of the club. Carlos Restrepo is the coach of Brujas F.C.

This club plays its home games at Estadio Nacional, a multi-use stadium in La Sabana, San Jose, Costa Rica. This stadium has a capacity of 20,000 people and was built in 1976. Brujas F.C. was founded in 2004 when some investors acquired the franchise of Asociación Deportiva Guanacasteca; however, the club was heavily criticized due to certain economical aspects; for instance, the owners and associates of the club would sit in luxury accommodations while many of the soccer players were underpaid.

Some of the most notable former players of this club are: Adrian De Lemos, Michael Umaña, Carlos Clark, John Jairo Culma, Leandro Gobatto, Kervin Lacey, David Diach, Vicente Rosella and Jairo Arrieta. Some of the current players of Brujas F.C. are: Álvaro Mesén, Ricardo Harris, Berny Peña, Danny Fonseca, Steven Bryce, Osman López, Athim Rooper, Jhonny Woodly, William Sunsing and Ricardo Steer.
