FC Politehnica Iasi
FC Politehnica Iasi, or Poli Iasi, is a professional football club from the city of Iasiin Romania. This city is located in the northeastern part of Romania in the region of Moldova. With a population of 320,888 people, Iasi is the second largest city, after Bucarest, in this country. Iasi County is not only the home of FC Politehnica Iasi, but also of its home stadium Emil Alexandrescu in Copou. The official colors of the club are blue and white.
Founded in 1945, FC Politehnica Iasi has this name since 1967. The story of this club has been marked by their alternation between the second and first leagues in the Romanian football systems. In the first Romanian's league, FC Politehnica Iasi has been playing in the Divizia A, today Liga 1, in the years 1960-1961, 1962-1967, 1968-1972, 1973-1981, 1982-1990, 1995-96, and 2004- at present. In 2001, the club was relegated to the Romanian third division. As a result, they merged with a local club and name the new club Poli Unirea. Once they returned to the first division in 2004, they switch to their previous name FC Politehnica Iasi.
FC Politehnica Iasi's home stadium is Emil Alexandrescu Stadium with capacity to hold 12,500 people. Some of the most famous players are Aurelian Cuperman, Constantin Matei, Vasile Iordache,"Coco" Deleanu, Mihai Romila, Vasile Simionas, Laurentiu Rosu, and Daniel Pancu.
