Real Club Recreativo de Huelva

Real Club Recreativo de Huelva is a Spanish football team from Huelva (a city in southwestern Spain, the capital of the province of Huelva in the autonomous region of Andalusia). The club was founded on December 23, 1889 (making it the oldest football team in Spain, formed by a Dr McKay and overseas workers at the Rio Tinto mines). It was originally named Huelva Recreation Club. Real Club Recreativo de Huelva is also known by its followers as Recre and El Decano (the senior member; due to its long-standing existence). The team’s colors are white and blue. When playing as a home team, players wear a blue-striped white shirt, white shorts and sock; when playing as away team, the kit consists of a blue shirt with white décor on the sides, blue shorts and socks.

Real Club Recreativo de Huelva’s home ground is the Nuevo Colombino, a multi-use stadium, used mostly for football matches, in Huelva, Spain. The new stadium, built in 2001, has capacity for 19,900 spectators. Football was first introduced to Spain in Huelva and it still hosts the annual Trofeo Colombino, one of the traditional curtain-raisers to the Spanish football season. Real Club Recreativo de Huelva, after spending three seasons in the second division, was able to secure a promotion with two matches to be played, after beating Numancia. Recreativo de Huelva would be playing in La Liga next season, which is the professional football league in Spain.
