Club Sport Marítimo
“Marítimo” is one of the ways in which a very well-known football club in Portugal is called. Some other ways in which this club is popularly called by their fans are Os Verde-Rubros, which means The Green and Red in English, Os Leões, meaning The Lions, CS Marítimo, or simply Marítimo, as said before. The full name of this club is Club Sport Marítimo and was founded in 1910. Carlos Pereira is the chairman of the team and the name of the manager that is now in charge is Ulissses Morais.
It is believed that the main rival team the Club Sport Marítimo has to fight against is Nacional Madeira. Some of the most notable players of this football club are Zé Pequeno, Janota Ramos, Artur de Sousa Pinga, Fernando Santos, Carlos Jorge, Jorge Costa and Paulo Alves. The uniform they utilize to play away is a white T-shirt and green pants and socks. The one used for playing home is red socks, white pants, and a green T-shirt with red vertical stripes.
The Club Sport Marítimo plays in the SuperLia, and in the 2005-2006, relies on the 10th position. In addition, among their credits, they won the Portugal’s championship (1925-1926), they were the winners of Second Division in 1976/1977, 1998/1999, 2001/2002 and 2003/2004, they have been the winners of the regional championship of the Madeira Regional Football Association for 35 different times, and their first appearance in the Fist Division of their country was held in 1973/1974.
