Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi, better known as HJK, and recognized universally as HJK Helsinki, is a Finnish soccer team, situated in the capital Helsinki. In general considered Finland's principal team, HJK Helsinki is also the most victorious Finnish team in tournaments like the league championships with 21 victories. The club has also won eight Finnish Cups and four Finnish League Cups. Many of Finland's internationally most successful players have played for HJK Helsinki before moving abroad. HJK Helsinki is the only Finnish club to have played in the UEFA Champions League group period. They did so in the 1998–1999 period, winning over FC Metz in the second round. The team also administered a highly regarded five points in their group, winning Benfica at home and gaining draws at away to Benfica and home to Kaiserslautern. They mislaid to PSV Eindhoven twice and to Kaiserslautern in the away match.

HJK Helsinki made the real impression in 1998 when HJK defeated French club Metz 2-1 on extra time to be eligible to the Champions League. HJK had relatively nice wins in the Champions League, such as by defeating Benfica 2-0 at home and drawing with it in Lisbon by 2-2. HJK Helsinki plays in the Finnair Stadium.
