FC Haka
FC Haka is a Finnish soccer team, based in the city of Valkeakoski. It is one of the most winning teams in Finland, with twelve Finnish Cups and 9 Finnish championships. Haka has traditionally had close ties with paper manufacturing in the Valkeakoski region, and it is still supported by UPM Kymmene. The team was established as Valkeakosken Haka in 1934. In 1949 it was advanced to Finland's premier division Mestaruussarja, in the actually named Veikkausliiga, and in 1955 gained the first Finnish Cup. The 1960s was the most victorious epoch in the team's history, gaining both the cup and league three times, plus the first two times in Finnish soccer history in 1960. The team was downgraded in 1972, but came straight back, and won the double again in 1977.
The team's name was altered to FC Haka in the beginning of the 1990s. Haka acquired the cup again in 1995, but was downgraded the next season. Keith Armstrong was hired as the current coach, and the team came straight back once more, winning three straight cups from 1998 up to 2000. Goalkeeper prodigy Olli Huttunen takes Armstrong's place as the coach in 2002, and he has guided the team to the 2004 championship and two cups on the years 2002 and 2005. Haka's best presentation in UEFA contest was in the 1983–1984 period when they get up to the quarterfinals of the Cup Winners' Championship, losing to current winners Juventus 0-2 on extra time.
