Olympique de Marseille is a French football team based in Marseille. It is one of the largest and most successful clubs in France. Olympique de Marseille is the best-supported club in the country and the only French team to have won the UEFA Champions League. This club has a fierce rivalry with Paris Saint-Germain.

In 1993, Olympique de Marseille won the first UEFA Champions League in new format; however, a decade of decline followed. In 1994, due to financial irregularities and other problems, they suffered forced relegation to the second division.
