FC Lorient


FC Lorient or FC Lorient Bretagne Sud is a French football club based in Lorient. In 2005-06, the club played in Ligue 2 (the second division of French football). For the 2006-07 season, FC Lorient returns to the Ligue 1 (the top division of French football). The President of this club is Alain LaRoch and the Club Secretary is Dominique Derrien. The coach of FC Lorient is Christian Gourcuff.

In 2002, FC Lorient won the French Cup. This club plays its home games at Stade de Moustoir, a multi-use stadium in the centre of Lorient. This stadium has a capacity of 16,669 people. As mentioned before, FC Lorient is based in Lorient, a commune and a seaport in the Morbinhan département of Brittany, France. The rivers Blavet and Scorff enter the Atlantic Ocean at Lorient. Lorient was a former base of the French Navy. Tourism is fundamental to the economy of this city. Every summer, the annual Festival Interceltique de Lorient attracts a large number of tourists to the area.
