Lille OSC
Lille OSC or Lille Olympique Sporting Club is a French football club, based in the northern city of Lille. This club was founded in 1944. Lille OSC has often lived in the shadow of local rival RC Lens in both performances and popularity; however, since 2000, the results of the club have bettered those of RC Lens, with two Champions League participations in 2002 and 2005, among other achievements. The President of this club is Michel Seydoux and the Club Secretary is Xavier Thuilot. Claude Puel is the current coach of Lille OSC; he won the French league with AS Monaco FC in 2000.
Notable former players of Lille OSC include Éric Abidal, Jocelyn Angloma, Bernard Lama, Filip Desmet, Bruno Cheyrou, Pascal Cygan, Kennet Anderson, Christian Perez, Antoine Sibierski and Jean Vincent. Some of the current players of this club are: Tony Silva, Daniel Gygax, Souleymane Youla, Nicolas Fauvergue, Samuel Robail, Kevin Mirallas, Rafael Schmitz, Johan Audel, Michel Fernandes Bastos, Peter Odemwingie, Nicolas Plestan and Mathieu Robail. As mentioned before, Lille OSC is based in the northern city of Lille. Lille is the fourth largest city of France, it lies near the border with Belgium and its Dutch name is Rijsel.
