Yordanka Blagoeva was born on 19 January 1947. She is a Bulgarian athlete and competed mainly in the High Jump. She competed for Bulgaria in the 1972 Summer Olympics held in Munich in the High Jump where she finished second. She returned four years later to the 1976 Summer Olympics held in Montreal, Canada this time only managing to win the bronze medal in the high jump.
 
Blagoeva was a strong determined player who urged and inculcated a team spirit in all professional athletes of her nation. She is still respected as a high caliber player who can build the professionalism in sport to lead her nation at the foremost position. Her superior approach and dedication to the game made her stand out from the crowd.
