Thelma Hopkins was born on 16 March 1936. She is a British athlete and competed mainly in the High Jump. She competed for Great Britain in the 1956 Summer Olympics held in Melbourne, Australia in the High Jump where she won the silver medal jointly with Maria Pisareva.
 
She had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by just giving some extra hard work and efforts. She never lost hope in herself and always fought hard to achieve her goal. She is still remembered as one of the best athletes in the history of Olympics.
