Klenie Bimolt
The Olympic Games or Olympics is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C., the modern games started from 1896. The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent at least one color of the participating country’s national flag. Klena Klenie Geertje Bimolt was born on June 8, 1945 in Assen, Drenthe and is a former swimmer from the Netherlands, who won the silver medal in the 4 by 100 medley relay at the 1964 Summer Olympics. She did so together with her team mates Corrie Winkel, Ada Kok and Erica Terpstra. Bimolt also competed at the 1968 Summer Olympics, and accumulated a total number of eleven Dutch titles in the 100 meter and 200 meter breaststroke events in the 1960s. Additionally, she also won two silver medals, in the 200 meter breaststroke and at the 4 by 100 medley relay, at the European Championships long course in Leipzig in 1962. Bimolt superior approach and dedication towards the sport made her surpass the other players of her epoch. She earned silver medals at the Olympic events and became an international celebrity and a symbol of hope to millions.
