Omar Ajete
The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896 and were held every four years except in 1916, 1940 and 1944 due to the World Wars. The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent at least one color of the participating country’s national flag. Omar Ajete Iglesias was born in San Juan, Pinar del Rio, Cuba and is a former baseball player, who starred for the Cuban National Series' Pinar Del Río Vegueros and the Cuban national team. Ajete, a lefthanded starter, compiled a career record of 179 to 96 over sixteen 90-game seasons in the National Series. He pitched for Cuba's gold medal-winning teams at the 1992 and 1996 Olympic games. The desire to use his talents for the Glory and Honor of his God and Country propelled him in an attempt to excel at the highest level of sporting achievement to inspire future generations of his countrymen to do the same upholding the highest standards of patriotic fervor.
