Ben Jipcho
The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896.The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent atleast one color of the participating country’s national flag. Ben Jipcho was born on March 1, 1943. He was a former athlete from Kenya, who won the silver medal in the 3000 meters Steeplechase at the 1972 Summer Olympics, behind his legendary teammate Kipchoge Keino. He slso won the golden medal at the 1974 Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, New Zealand. Ben was a player known for his mental toughness owing to which many of his famous matches went the distance. His superior approach and dedication to the game made him stand out from the other players of his epoch.
