The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. John Ryan was born on February 23, 1944 and was an Australian sprint freestyle swimmer of the 1960s, who won a bronze medal in the 4 by 100 meters freestyle relay at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. The Victorian combined with Bob Windle, David Dickson and Peter Doak to win silver in the 4 by 100 meter medley relay, behind the United States and Germany, the first time this event had been contested at the Olympics. He also made the semifinals of the 100 meters freestyle. Ryan later took gold in the 4 by 110 yard freestyle relay at the 1966 Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica and finished fourth in the corresponding individual event.
 
With all his dedication and devotion in his play achieved many goals in his overall athletic career. He had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by just giving some extra hard work and efforts. He never lost hope in himself and always fought hard to achieve his goal. He is still remembered as one of the best athletes in the history of Olympics.
