Kate Howey
The Olympic Games, or Olympics, are an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896.The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent atleast one color of the participating country’s national flag. Kate Howey is a former British judoka. She is the only British judoka to have competed at four Olympic Games. She was born on May 31, 1973. She was won bronze medal at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. Howey is also the only British woman to have won two Olympic judo medals . She won silver at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. She was also selected to carry the British flag at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Olympics in Athens. She announced her retirement from competition on October 27, 2004, having competed in the women's less than 70kilogram weight category for 16 years. She was awarded the MBE for services to judo in 1997. She won World Championship, gold medal in 1997, silver in 1993, 2001 and bronze in 1991, 1999. In European Championship she won silver medal in1990, 1993, 2000; bronze in 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997 and 2000.
