The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Jeroen Petrus Maria Delmee was born on March 8, 1973 in Boxtel, Noord-Brabant. He is a field hockey player from The Netherlands and was nicknamed, Delmis in his first year with the Men's National Team, after missing a penalty stroke in the final of the 1994 Men's Hockey World Cup in Sydney against Pakistan. He became Olympic champion with the Dutch national team in 1996 and in 2000. The midfielder and defender made his debut on January 30, 1994 in a friendly game against South Africa.
 
He earned his 300th cap on December 7, 2004 during the Champions Trophy tournament in Lahore, when Holland faced hosts Pakistan. From 2000, he is the captain of the Dutch national side. He plays club hockey in Holland with Den Bosch, with whom he won the Dutch title for two times in 1998 and 2001. His nephew, Sander van der Weide is also a Dutch field hockey international.
 
He had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by just giving some extra hard work and efforts. He never lost hope in himself and always fought hard to achieve his goal. He is still remembered as one of the best athletes in the history of Olympics.
