The Olympic Games, or Olympics, is an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896.The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent atleast one color of the participating country’s national flag.
 
Darius Kasparaitis was born on October 16th, 1972 in Elektrenai, Lithuania. He is an ethnic Lithuanian professional ice hockey defenseman, also known by the nickname Kaspar. He has Russian citizenship and plays for the Russian national hockey team as well. He left his birth place for Russia at 14 years of age to play ice hockey at a higher level. He played his first game for HC Dynamo Moscow which is one of the premier teams in the Soviet Union at the age of 16 during the 1988 89 season and won the Soviet League championship with them in 1992.
 
He was drafted by the New York Islanders with the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 1992 National Hockey League, NHL Entry Draft. Darius has played for the New York Islanders, Colorado Avalanche, Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers.
 
Due to the fact that Lithuanian ice hockey team was relatively weak and had never played in major competitions, he chose to represent Russia in official events. In December of 2005, Kasparaitis was chosen to represent Russia in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy where he won the silver.
 
Darius Kasparaitis with all his dedication and devotion in his play achieved many goals in his overall athletic career. He had the ability of defeating the opponent easily by just giving some extra hard work and efforts. He never lost hope in himself and always fought hard to achieve his goal. He is still remembered as one of the best athletes in the history of Olympics.
