The Olympic Games, or Olympics, are an international multi-sport event taking place every four years which comprises of summer and winter games. Though the first ancient games were held in 776 B.C, the modern games started from 1896.The unity of the 5 continents is shown on the Olympic flag by five colorful intertwined rings of red, blue, green, yellow, and black, created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin to represent atleast one color of the participating country’s national flag. Daniel Kowalski was born on July 2, 1975 in Singapore. He was an Australian middle- and long-distance swimmer specializing in freestyle events. He participated in Olympics games and got the silver medal in the 1996 games. He competed in the Olympic Games in 200 meter, 400 meter and 1,500 meter individual freestyle events and in the 200 meter freestyle relay. At the 1996 Summer Olympics, he was the first man in 92 years to earn medals in all of the 200 meter, 400 meter and 1500 meter freestyle events. Kowalski was however perhaps best known for being perpetual bridesmaid to fellow Australians Kieran Perkins and Grant Hackett, who were respectively the world's best 1500 meter freestyle competitors during the earlier and later parts of Kowalski's career. In 2000 Summer Olympics he won gold medal in the 4 by 200 meter freestyle relay. In 1996 Summer Olympics he won silver medal in the 1500 meter freestyle and bronze medal in the 400 meter freestyle. He also won bronze medal in the 200 meter freestyle. In 1998 World Aquatics Championships he won silver medal in the 1500 meter freestyle. In 1994 World Aquatics Championships he won gold medal in the 4 by 200 meter relay and silver medal in the 1500 meter freestyle. Kowalski was part of the world record setting Australian gold medal 4 by 200 meter relay team at the 1998 Commonwealth Games.
