Shane Bertsch was born in Denver, Colorado. Shane was a promising junior tennis player, he gave up the game to concentrate on golf after losing a big match to future Number1 ranked, Andre Agassi. He and his wife Monica used to travel on the Nationwide Tour. His biggest thrill in golf was his first Tournament win in 1994, the Southwest Kansas Pro-Am. He was winner of the 1998 Colorado Open, closed 68-66 for T5 at 1996 Greater Vancouver Open, which was his only top-10 finish of his career on the PGA, Professional Golf’s Association Tour. He was six strokes back of leader Vaughn Taylor after 36 holes. He missed the 2003 season-ending 55-member Nationwide Tour Championship by $18 to Michael Allen, and captured his first victory at the 2000 Upstate Classic. Shane lost playoff to Joe Daley at the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open, and finished T4, the sixth straight season inside the top 20 in that category. He was member of the Nationwide Tour in 1995 and 1999-2005. He moved up the money list each of last four years from 96th in 2002 to 56 in 2003, to 25 in 2004 to eighth in 2005. He returned to the PGA Tour for the third time after finishing eighth on the 2005 Nationwide Tour money list with $263,373. He picked up first victory in almost five years at the BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs. Combined with his win at the same Tournament in 2000, was one of just four players on Tour to win the same Tournament twice. Shane made the cut in 16 of 26 events on the 2005 Nationwide Tour, with five top-10 finishes. Shane was one of the best known golf players in the history of the game. A unique style of game strategy and excellent judgment is what makes this great player one of the best all time golf players.
