Mathias Gronberg
Golf is an outdoor sport in which a player as an individual or from varied teams strikes a ball targeting a hole using various clubs. The sport does not have any fixed standard playing area, but an ideal measurement can be decided as per the availability of space and number of players involved. The game basically originated from Scotland and has been played for atleast five centuries in the British Isles. David Mathias Gronberg is one of the finest golf players who set an appreciated position for himself in the PGA, Professional Golfers’ Association. Gronberg was born on March 12, 1970 in the Stockholm suburb of Sweden. A 6 feet tall contender with a weight of 185 pounds made his first appearance as a professional in the 1990 season. In his amateur days, Gronberg enrolled at the Gothenburg golf school as a 16-year-old 5-handicapper. He compiled the Swedish Boys Champion title in 1988, and British Youths champion title two years later. He then helped Sweden to win the Eisenhower Trophy by 12 strokes ahead of the United States in New Zealand where he won the Individual title. After seven previous attempts at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament, Gronberg finally earned a tour card in 2003 for the 2004 PGA tournaments by being medalist at the Qualifying Tournament. He finished 20-under-par with four of six rounds in the 60s, two strokes ahead of runner-up Danny Ellis. He played four events on the PGA Tour, with two top-25s, a T18 at the British Open and a T15 at the John Deere Classic. He ended three years without a victory on The European Tour when he won the 60th Italian Open Telecom Italia. David Gronberg’s superior approach and dedication towards the sport made him surpass the other players of his epoch. However, he gained prominence only after he won the first PGA title in his career and became an international celebrity and a symbol of hope to millions.
