Ricky Craven
Ricky Craven is considered one of the best "comeback drivers" in NASCAR. Although he does not have a job currently, he drove in the NEXTEL Cup and in the Craftsman Truck Series in 2004 and 2005 respectively. He grew up in New England, and in spite of the fact that racing was not the first thing on Craven's mind; he began in this career at age of 15, racing at Unity Raceway. There, he won twice and also got the Rookie of the Year award. A year later, he won not only the track championship, but also 12 feature events. The success reached in this events and years of hard work was followed by a rampant success in the Canadian-American tour.
1986 was the year in which he debuted at NASCAR in his #12 at Oxford Plains Speedway in which he finished in the 25th place after suffering engine failure. In 1990, he won the Rookie of the Year award when he began running the Busch North Series that year. It only took him a year to be the champion in the series. As part of their achievements, he debuted at the Winston Cup at Rockingham; he started 34th and finish in the same position, and won 2 races in the Busch Series with a limited schedule. It was not until 1992 that he moved to the Busch Series full-time, being named again Rookie of the Year. Today, he does not have a full-time ride and will start the season on July 22 at Martinsville Speedway with the #14 Family Dollar Dodge for FitzBradshaw Racing.
