Justin Ashburn

Justin Ashburn is the name of a part-time Busch Series driver in NASCAR for Day Racing Enterprises. He was born on born December 23, 1981 in Joelton, Tennessee. Before he joined the Busch Series, Justin raced in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. In 1997, Justin Ashburn won an award as Rookie of the Year at Highland Rim Speedway, finishing 5th in the pro-modified series. In 1999, he won the Most Improved Driver when he finished 4th in points. Then, Justin moved to Nashville Fairgrounds in the Winston Racing Series in order to drive there. He posted 4 top-10s in 2001.

His debut in Busch Series took place in 2003 when he ran a second Day Enterprises car. He was driving the #61 Waterloo Tool Storage/31-W Insulation Chevy and finished 42nd at the Darlington Raceway, that was the position with which he started. In thirteen starts for day, he got eleven DNFs. Unfortunately, he couldn't qualify for many races and did his best finish in 2003 when he ended in the 20th place at Nashville Superspeedway.

He started using the Day's primary #16 in 2004. Due to the fact that his team had problems to qualify and had to accept a limited schedule, Justin qualified to participate in eight races but couldn’t finish six of them. His best finish at that time was the 29th position at Talladega Superspeedway. His career has faced many difficulties; however, he has known how to get rid of all them and has persevered in his passion: racing. In 2006, he made one start only at Talladega. There, he achieved not only his best finish (14th), but also his first lead lap finish.
