NHL, the National Hockey League is a premier professional North American Sports League played in indoor stadiums. It’s divided into two conferences, each comprising of three divisions of ice hockey teams. The league was established in 1917 in Montreal, Quebec and it is composed of 30 teams out of which 24 teams based in U.S. and 6 in Canada. They have a regular season and playoffs leading to the Stanley Cup, which is the NHL Championship final. The Nashville Predators played in Central division of the Western Conference. The Nashville Predators are a professional National ice hockey League team based in Nashville, Tennessee. Their nickname is the Preds. It was founded in 1998. The team colors include Navy Blue, Silver, and Gold. The Predators first took the ice on October 10, 1998, where they lost 1-0 at home to the Florida Panthers. Three nights later, on October 13, they defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 for their first win. In the 2003-04 NHL season, the Nashville Predators, under Coach Barry Trotz, made their first trip to the playoffs, which they eventually lost, as the eighth seeded team in the Western Conference with a franchise record 91 points. Their best performance prior to their breakout season in 2003-04 was in 2000-01, when they finished with 80 points, a 10th place in the Western Conference. In 2005-06, the Predators set an NHL record by winning their first four games by one goal each. The Predators had accumulated 106 points and clinched home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs for the first time in team history. The Predators began the 2006 Stanley Cup Playoffs as the 4th seed and faced the 5th seeded San Jose Sharks in the Western Conference Quarterfinals, which they eventually lost.
