Wade Redden
NHL, the National Hockey League is a premier professional North American Sports League played in indoor stadiums. It’s divided into two conferences, each comprising of three divisions of ice hockey teams. The league was established in 1917 in Montreal, Quebec and it is composed of 30 teams out of which 24 teams based in U.S. and 6 in Canada. They have a regular season and playoffs leading to the Stanley Cup, which is the NHL Championship final. Wade Redden was born on June 12, 1977, in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada. His height is six foot 2 inch and weight 212lbs. He is a professional ice hockey defenceman player. Wade Redden has played all nine of his NHL seasons for Ottawa. He was the New York Islanders' 1st pick in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, 2nd overall, and was then traded to Ottawa by the New York Islanders along with Damian Rhodes for Don Beaupre, Martin Straka and Bryan Berard, January 23, 1996. In 2005 to 2006 NHL season, he missed games because of a knee injury. Redden finished the season with 50 points and a league-leading of 35, in 65 games. He is considered one of the league's elite defensemen. Redden is a very well-rounded player with a world-class first pass when exiting the defensive zone. He possesses an accurate point shot and plays on the first power play unit.
He won awards like WHL Rookie of the year in 1994, WHL, Western Hockey League East Second All-Star Team in 1995, WHL East Fist All-Star Team in 1996, Memorial Cup All-Star Team in 1996, Played in NHL All-Star Game in 2002, and NHL Plus and Minus Award in 2006.
