Patrik Stefan was born on the 16th of September 1980 in the Czech Republic. Stefan was the number one overall pick in the 1999 National Hockey League Entry Draft by Atlanta. He is a 6 foot 2 inch 205 pound Center, who has appeared in 414 career NHL games, scoring 59 goals and 118 assists for 177 points with 148 penalty minutes.
 
In 2004-05, he earned 41 points in 37 games with Ilves Tampera of the Finnish Elite League and finished third on the team in points. In 2003-04, he set career-highs with 14 goals, 26 assists, 40 points and 82 games. He tallied a penalty shot goal on his first career attempt and appeared in his 300th career NHL game. He earned his 100th career NHL assist.
 
In 2002-03, he was the only Atlanta player to appear in all 71 games prior to suffering a fractured ankle that caused him to miss the final 11 contests. He appeared in his 200th career NHL game and tied a career-high with two goals. He notched his 100th career NHL point as well. In 2001-02, he missed nine games, with a hyper-extended elbow and seven games with a broken jaw. He tied his career-high with three assists and points and scored his first career shorthanded goal.
 
In 2000-01, he set a career-high with three assists and matched his career-high with two goals and three points. He collected 11 points in final 15 games. In 1999-00, he topped the Thrashers in even strength assists of 18 and scored his first NHL goal and assisted on the first goal in franchise history, his NHL debut. In 1998-99, he played in 33 games with Long Beach, International Hockey League and collected 35 points. He earned spot on Western Conference’s IHL All-Star squad and scored four goals.
