Nathan Dempsey
NHL, the National Hockey League is a premier professional North American Sports League played in indoor stadiums. It’s divided into two conferences, each comprising of three divisions of ice hockey teams. The league was established in 1917 in Montreal, Quebec and it is composed of 30 teams out of which 24 teams based in U.S. and 6 in Canada. They have a regular season and playoffs leading to the Stanley Cup, which is the NHL Championship final.
Nathan Dempsey was born on July 14, 1974 in Spruce Grove, Alberta. His height is 6 foot and weight 190 pounds. Nathan Dempsey plays for Boston Bruins team in Defenseman position. Nathan Dempsey starred on the AJHL, Alberta Junior Hockey League's St. Albert Saints before joining the WHL, Western Hockey League’s Regina Pats in 1991-92. He was chosen 245th overall by the Maple Leafs in 1992 NHL Entry Draft and made the WHL East Second All-Star Team two years later after recording 50 points.
Dempsey's smart puck handling and willingness to play the body in his own zone made him an asset on the St. John's Maple Leafs. He was recalled by Toronto in 1996-97 and 1999-00 as an emergency fills in, but was quickly returned to the minors when the regulars returned to the line up. In 2000-01 he scored 10 points in 25 games and was a plus 13 with the parent club, yet continued to hone his skills in the AHL, American Hockey League.
Dempsey would play three games with the Maple Leafs in 2001-02 before becoming a free agent in 2002-03 and signing on with the Chicago Blackhawks. After parts of two seasons in the Windy City Dempsey was dealt to the Los Angeles Kings in the latter stages of the 2003-04 season. His regular season total statistics included 190 GP; games played 19 G, goals, 55 A, assists, 74 pts, points and 66 PIM, penalty minutes.
