Nagy Ladislav
NHL, the National Hockey League is a premier professional North American Sports League played in indoor stadiums. It’s divided into two conferences, each comprising of three divisions of ice hockey teams.
Ladislav Nagy was born in Saca, Czechoslovakia. He played with HC Kosice and Dragon Presov of the Slovak league. He taken 177th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Nagy came to North America to play a year of junior. He made an immediate impact with 71 goals for the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL; Quebec Major Junior Hockey League then joined the AHL's Worcester Ice Cats for a few Calder Cup playoff games.
Nagy split his first two professional seasons with St. Louis and Worcester working on his overall game. In March 2001, Nagy was part of the package sent to the Phoenix Coyotes for Keith Tkachuk. In his first full season in the NHL, Nagy scored 23 goals and 42 points before surpassing those numbers the following year. A member of Slovakia's gold medal World Championship team in 2002, Nagy continued his goal scoring prowess in 2002-03 with 22 goals, while almost doubling his assist totals to 35 and finishing the season with a career high 57 points.
In 2003-04 season, in his 5th NHL season, missed the last 24 games of the season due to a season-ending wrist injury. Despite only playing in 55 games, established new career highs in goals and tied his career. In international career in 2003, he represented Slovakia at World Championships in Finland, collecting 4-4-8 in 9 games, helped lead Slovakia to a bronze medal and ranked T-15th in tournament goals and points in 2002. He helped lead Team Slovakia to its first ever gold medal at World Championships in Sweden, recording 1-3-4 and 6 PIM, Penalty Minutes in 6 games.
In 2001, he represented Slovakia at 2001 World Championships in Germany, recording 2-1-3 and 6 PIM in 7 games and played 6 games with Team Slovakia at World Junior Championships. His regular season total statistics included 266 GP; games played 79G, goals, 95 A, assists, 174 pts, points and 212 PIM, penalty minutes.
