NHL, the National Hockey League is a premier professional North American Sports League played in indoor stadiums. It’s divided into two conferences, each comprising of three divisions of ice hockey teams.  The league was established in 1917 in Montreal, Quebec and it is composed of 30 teams out of which 24 teams based in U.S. and 6 in Canada. Michael Holmqvist is the NHL player who is currently playing with Chicago Blackhawks team on Left Wing position. He was born on 8 June 1979 at Stockholm, Sweden. He has a height of 6 feet 4 inches and weighs 210 pounds. The first round, 18th overall selection of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, Holmqvist honed his skills in the Swedish and Finnish Elite Leagues before making his North American debut in 2003-04.
 
In 2003-04 he appeared in 24 games with Cincinnati, registiring 14 points, an even plus-minus rating and 20 penalty minutes he saw action with the Mighty Ducks in 21 games, scoring two goals and recording a minus 6 rating and 25 penalty minutes. In 2004-05, he played in 79 regular season games with Cincinnati, recording 46 points, a minus 2 rating and 111 penalty minutes. He appeared in 11 playoff games, accumulating four points, a plus 2 rating and 10 penalty minutes.
 
He was a member of Sweden's European World Junior Team in 1996-97 and its World Junior Team in 1997-98, Holmqvist joined the Mighty Ducks in 2003-04 and went on to split his first season in North America with Anaheim and the team's AHL, the American Hockey League, affiliate in Cincinnati. In the summer of 2005, the former first round pick was acquired by the Chicago Blackhawks
 
His regular season total statistics included 21 games played 2 goals, 2 points and 25 PIM, penalty minutes. He is a powerful skater with a lethal shot who back-checked responsibly and played the game cleanly. He, with all his dedication and devotion in his play has achieved many goals in his overall hockey-playing career. He has the ability of defeating the opponent easily by giving some extra hard work and efforts.
