In 2001-2002, he appeared in his fifth NHL season, his second with Anaheim. He set a club record for lowest GAA Gaelic Athletic Association in one season with a 2.13. He ranked fifth in the NHL in GAA and tied for fifth in save percentage.
 
In 2002-2003, he won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the NHL’s playoff MVP most valuable player. He finished the postseason with the best GAA Gaelic Athletic Association in the league. He currently has the longest playoff overtime shutout streak in NHL history, playing his entire 168:27 career overtime minutes without giving up a goal. He had a playoff shutout streak of 217:54, including three straight shutouts, the fifth longest playoff streak in NHL history.
 
In 2003-2004, he appeared in his seventh NHL season, his fourth with Anaheim. He allowed two or less goals in 13 of his last 20 outings, posting a 9-9-2 record with a 2.26 GAA and tied a regular-season franchise record and set regular-season career high, stopping 51 shots March 21, while facing a franchise record 57 shots on goal.
