Jason Bacashihua
NHL, the National Hockey League is a premier professional North American Sports League played in indoor stadiums. It’s divided into two conferences, each comprising of three divisions of ice hockey teams. Jason Bacashihua was born on September 20, 1982, in Garden City, Michigan and is an American Ice hockey Goalie currently playing for the St. Louis Blues of the NHL. Bacashihua was drafted in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars in the first round, 26th overall. In 2004-05 he posted a 18-13-1 record along with a career-best 2.51 goals-against average with the American Hockey League’s Worcester IceCats. He collected a .902 save percentage and tied his American Hockey League career high 18 wins. He also won the AHL, American Hockey League, Player of the Week for the week of January 10, posting a 3-0-0 record along with a 0.67 goals-against average and a .979 save percentage. He was awarded Utah’s Three Stars Award for the second consecutive season, given to the player who has been named a star of the game the most. In 2002-03 he played his first full season with Utah of the AHL, recording an 18-18-2 mark, along with 3.15 goals-against average. In 2001-02 he spent the majority of the season with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League, collecting a 26-12-7 record along with five shutouts. He made his professional hockey debut with Utah. In 2005-06 he registered a 4-10-1 record along with 3.23 goals against average and a .899 save percentage with St. Louis. He recorded his first career NHL win on December 20 at Phoenix by turning away 33 of 37 shots in a 5-4 win. He made his NHL debut by turning away 14 of 16 shots in a relief effort on December 16 at Chicago while adding his first career NHL assist. He also made his first career NHL start on December 17 versus Philadelphia and notched his first career shootout win on December 23 at San Jose but missed 28 games due to a shoulder injury. Jason Bacashihua is a powerful skater with a lethal shot who back-checked responsibly and played the game cleanly. He, with all his dedication and devotion in his play has achieved many goals in his overall hockey-playing career. He has the ability of defeating the opponent easily by giving some extra hard work and efforts.
