Jamie McLennan
NHL, the National Hockey League is a premier professional North American Sports League played in indoor stadiums. It’s divided into two conferences, each comprising of three divisions of ice hockey teams.
Jamie McLennan is a professional ice hockey goaltender who presently plays for the Calgary Flames of the NHL. He was born on June 30, 1971 in Edmonton, Alberta. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 190 pounds. His position is Goaltender and he shoots in left and he starred for the St Albert Royals team of the AMHL, Alberta Midget Hockey League before joining the WHL, Western Hockey League in 1988. He was chosen as the 48th overall by the New York Islanders in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft after a fine junior career with the Spokane Chiefs and Lethbridge Hurricanes. In 1991, Jamie was named to the WHL East First All Star Team after winning 32 games in 56 appearances. McLennan divided his first pro season between the AHL's Capital District Islanders and the Richmond Renegades of the ECHL. In 1992, he won 17 games and recorded 3.23 goals against mark for Capital District. Over the next three years, McLennan was a solid reserve in New York and he even spent his time completing a roster spot in the minors. In July 1996, the St. Louis Blues signed the young backstopper as a free agent. After spending the 1996 season with the AHL's Worcester Ice Cats, McLennan split the goaltending responsibilities for two years with Grant Fuhr. In 1997, McLennan was the receiver of the Bill Masterton Trophy. McLennan played in 19 games when the Blues rode Roman Turek's goalkeeping to an NHL high with 114 points in 1999 season. The Minnesota Wild spent no time choosing him at the 2000 Expansion Draft. Mclennan recorded two shutouts and 2.64 goals against average on the first year club as it practiced the anticipated growing pains of a first year franchise. He played for the Florida Panthers and set a personal best with 48 saves in a 2-1 shootout loss to Washington on April 15th. He turned away 29 shots for the win on April 9 against Tampa Bay. He had achieved many goals in his career due to his devotion to the play at hand.
